Fresh Additions to Fort McMurray’s Culinary Scene

Fort McMurray is home to one of Canada’s best patio seasons – our long hours of sunshine and warm evenings all summer long make this the perfect place to relax and enjoy a cold beverage outdoors. Luckily for patio enthusiasts, 2019 has brought three new options for you to sample at Fort McMurray Golf Club, Paddy McSwiggins, and The Banquet. Let’s take a closer look at these great new establishments.

Fort McMurray Golf Club

1 Real Martin Drive in Wood Buffalo

After the loss of their old clubhouse in 2016, Fort McMurray Golf Club has been working hard to rebuild something bigger and better, and the brand-new state of the art facility which serves the 27-hole golf course is nothing short of spectacular. The patio which wraps around the back of the clubhouse is arguably the best in Northern Alberta, with amazing views of the Athabasca River valley, comfortable seating in the sunshine, and a great vantage point to watch golfers finish their round. No patio would be complete without a robust beer, wine, and cocktail selection, and when paired with Fort McMurray Golf Club’s gourmet pub food options, it’s a can’t-miss spot this summer.

Paddy McSwiggins

320 Thickwood Boulevard in Thickwood

This establishment, affectionately known simply as “Paddy’s”, has been a north-of-the-bridge staple for decades and after three long years, it’s back! It’s safe to say that it was worth the wait, Paddy McSwiggins 2.0 is better than ever. Home of the legendary Wing Wednesdays, this Irish pub offers all-day breakfast, a great beer & whiskey selection, and a friendly atmosphere that you’re sure to love. Even better, kids are welcome until 8:30 pm every night, which means the whole family is sure to enjoy this iconic Fort McMurray pub and newly constructed patio that is slated to open this month.

The Banquet

155 Eagle Ridge Boulevard in Eagle Ridge

It’s not too often that Fort McMurray can claim to be home to something that’s the first of its kind, but that’s exactly what you’ll find at the region’s newest “premium dive bar”. The Banquet offers 3 levels of fun, from bowling in the basement, pool & bar games on the main level, and an amazing rooftop patio with panoramic views of Fort McMurray. The Banquet boasts a massive beer selection, trendy cocktails, and a great menu of pub classics. The rooftop patio features booths with fire pits in the tables and tailgate-style games such as cornhole for guests to enjoy.

Each of these new or refurbished restaurants are well worth checking out this summer to enjoy the best of Fort McMurray’s patio weather. Just another reason to try something new in 2019!
